Morrison Energy Services receives National Grid Safety Award

5th December 2023

Morrison Energy Services, a part of M Group Services’ Energy Division, is delighted to have received National Grid’s ‘Positive Safety Leadership and Dedication to Safety Award’.

Announced at the National Grid Electricity Transmission- Safety, Health, Environment & Sustainability Contractor Leadership Forum in Daventry, we were awarded for our work at 4VK Phase 2.

The project has seen our teams work to fully refurbish the overhead line route from tower 4VK238 to 4VK477 at Wymondley Substation. As part of the work, we have undertaken assessments of the towers to identify any steelwork needing to be treated or replaced, as well as installing tower strengthening steelwork.

As a large project with over two hundred operatives on site at its peak, achieving this safety award is a credit to the hard work and commitment to safety that our teams display daily.

At Morrison Energy Services, the safety of our people and the public is our number one priority. This award represents the collaboration between our team and the National Grid team, working to uphold our ‘Zero Harm’ behavioural safety programme.

David Maddocks, Managing Director, Morrison Energy Services Electricity Transmission, said: “We are extremely proud to receive this award which recognises the excellent performance of the 4VK site. A huge amount of effort goes into running a job of this magnitude and to do so in such a proactive and safe manner is indeed remarkable. Well done to all the teams working to stay safe.”

Ciara Taberner, Director of Safety, Risk and Compliance at National Grid, said: “It’s brilliant to see the teams at National Grid and Morrison Energy Services work together to ensure a safety culture flows through the entire team.”

We are extremely proud of our colleagues, who have upheld incredible standards of safety throughout the project. Congratulations to everyo
